ABSTRACT

In this paper a traditional two-zone approach is utilised to examine three types of oscillations in temperatures of small-scale compartment fires, plus three types of nonoscillating fires. The formulation of the model is algebraic using a minimalist amount of computer resource and a simple program PARAFFIN has been described to perform the calculations. Limited data from literature supports the modelling and the dependence of oscillation frequency upon ventilation seems to be correctly recreated.
