ABSTRACT

In this paper, a new adsorption working pair of composite adsorbent made of silica gel impregnated with hygroscopic salt which can avoid the corrosion effect and crash problems is studied. The adsorption equilibrium of methanol and water on the composite adsorbent was measured by the sorption isosteric method. Dubinin-Astakhov (D-A) equation is uesd to fit the experimental data. Adsorption equilibrium lines are obtained and basic adsorption cycles of three different working pairs are shown in the P (pressure) - T (temperature) - x (adsorption uptake) diagram. Coefficient of performance (COP) and Specific cooling capacity (SCC) are calculated. The result showed that the new composite adsorbent will improve COP or SCP. Also it can decrease the desorption temperature. At last, the moisture uptake curves demonstrate that the composite adsorbent has the better adsorption capacity and adsorption rate than pure silica gel.
