ABSTRACT
Every year, road accidents kill more people than natural disasters or terrorism does. In this research paper, we are proposing an emergency alert system that alerts vehicular accidents to the base station, ambulances in the coverage area and the police in real time. The idea behind our system is due to the expensive nature and commercially motivated European Commission’s e-call project which depends on mobile networks and mobile operators for vehicle’s location information transmission. On contrary, our system depends on Radio frequency (RF) signals for transmission. Usage of low cost components with logical thinking, simple installation and less legal procedures makes our system cheaper than e-call. But it does not compromise on efficiency either. We have designed a real time alert system with crash detector sensors. The in-vehicle crash alert system comes with piezoelectric sensors to detect crash, RF transmitter for sending SOS signal and signal repeaters which helps in location tracking. As the system is flexible, it can be improved by incorporating micro trac or GPS-RF tracking device in the circuit. This technology can be used in any country with or without GPS service, in any vehicle with or without airbag.
