ABSTRACT
The purpose of this special issue is to promote the understanding of wi-fi as a novel and useful technology for communicating. Most of us agree that Wireless networking represent the future of computer and Internet connectivity worldwide. Wi-Fi continues to be the pre-eminent technology for building general-purpose wireless networks. This paper also explores how an Ad Hoc method is useful in wi-fi technology. An ad-hoc network is a local area network (LAN) that is built spontaneously as devices connect. Instead of relying on a base station to coordinate the flow of messages to each node in the network, the individual network nodes forward packets to and from each other. In the Windows operating system, ad-hoc is a communication mode (setting) that allows computers to directly communicate with each other without a router. This paper also explorers the applications of wi-fi and Ad Hoc technology. The main aim of this paper is to focus the importance of ad hoc and Wi-Fi networks related to areas of societal benefit.
Keywords: Wireless LAN, IEEE 802.11, Wi-Fi, Ad Hoc, Access points, Ethernet.
