ABSTRACT
The ABET Criteria for Accrediting Engineering Programs is based upon the knowledge, skills and behavior students acquire in a program through the curriculum. The acquired knowledge, skills and behavior are considered as program outcomes (POs). Consequently, the program needs to set its own POs to achieve program educational objectives (PEOs). The achievement of the program goals and objectives are verified by the assessment and evaluation of POs and PEOs. In this paper, a development process of an engineering program for accreditation and establishment process is discussed in details. This process was applied to satisfy the ABET Criteria 2010 for accreditation of the Civil Engineering B.Sc. Program at King Saud University (KSU), Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The PEOs and POs were established accordingly. The curriculum was tailored and required improvements were made to serve the PEOs and POs of the program. In order to ensure the consistency and correlation, mapping of Course Learning Objectives (CLOs) against POs were established. In order to ensure the continuous improvement of the program, strategies for the assessment and evaluation process were established.
