The limitation of fossil resources and the rapid growth of energy consumption in the world are among the factors that encourage the researchers to find new and renewable energy resources. The biogas is produced by the bacteria that cause the degradation and decomposition of organic materials in anaerobic condition. The best places for the optimal use of biogas are the rural areas. The correct development of biogas systems and its prevalence in the rural areas can have several advantages, but generally, it has been considered from three aspects which are as follows:
- Controlling contamination and preventing from the destruction of the environment; - Producing high quality and sanitary compost; - Producing gas for various applications.
In this research, we have performed case studies for the rural waste in the province of Yazd. The researches showed that the usage of Chinese biogas systems in this province, by considering the condition of this region, is more suitable and useful. The results showed that there are enough potential for the recovery of biogas from degradable and livestock waste in the rural areas of Yazd. Annually it can be extracted about 783 mm3 biogas from the existing resources in the rural areas of this province, and provided the lighting, heating and cooking of the villagers from the biogas fuel.
