Composite concrete encased steel (CES) structures composed of steel and fiber reinforced concrete have been continuously studied by the authors. Summary of results of past tests on beam-column joint is described first in this paper. And three dimensional non-linear Finite Element Method (FEM) analysis conducted, the effect of axial force on shear strength of CES beam-column joint was verified. In the FEM analysis, the analytical results show good agreement with the experimental ones on story shear versus story drift relationship for CES beam-column joints. And different axial load didn't significantly affect shear stress state of joints panel in the analysis, it is found that the effect of axial load on shear capacity of CES joint panel is small.
