ABSTRACT
This paper examines some of the challenges involved in designing sustainable tall buildings, making specific reference to conditions in Hong Kong. Tall building sustainability can only be assessed in the context of the urban environment it interacts with, and its contribution to the community’s sustainability. Many different, and sometimes conflicting, issues need to be considered for the design. The importance of taking an integrated or holistic approach is emphasised.
