ABSTRACT

Members of fragility in the resistance of earthquake force are found at the basis of summarizing the characteristics of the large spanned architectural curtain walls. Acceleration and displacement response characteristics of large spanned curtain walls in high-rise buildings and curtain wall-steel structure system are analyzed and discussed, the necessary measures should be utilized to reduce the earthquake response. It is advised that the floor spectrum including acceleration amplification coefficient factors spectrum and relative displacement spectrum should be invited in the analysis of the large spanned curtain walls. The relative seismic indices and the enveloping response spectrum are mentioned to guide the seismic design and seismic test of the large spanned curtain walls. Finally, it is advised that the conception design and structural details should be enhanced to prove the security of the large spanned architectural curtain walls under the serious earthquake action.

Keywords: Conceptual design, Large spanned curtain wall, Relative displacement amplitude spectra, Seismic performance.
