ABSTRACT

Mechanical Parking Building is an effective way to assist the government to solve the parking problems nowadays. Since the cars are commonly piled up closely in mechanical parking buildings, possible fire spread in it has become a concern. This paper describes a kind of mechanical parking building made of concrete and a full-scale fire experiment involving 3 cars. One of the cars was ignited inside the engine compartment with a gasoline spill. The temperatures at different locations inside the burning car and the adjacent cars were obtained. The order of flame spread was analyzed and the possibility of ignition of the adjacent cars was investigated.

Keywords: Fire spread, Full-scale fire experiment, Mechanical parking building.
