ABSTRACT

The new solution procedure proposed recently is employed in analyzing the optimum locations of the outriggers over the height of the building. The numerical analysis of the optimum locations of outriggers in outrigger-braced structure is presented with a new optimization objective which is based on the idea that both the drift and maximum core moment are reduced mostly as a whole. Based on this objective, the optimum locations of the outriggers are analyzed numerically. Numerically results are presented about the optimum locations of outriggers in various cases. The obtained results are also compared with the conventional results when the minimum drift is objective.

Keywords: Core moment reduction, Drift reduction, Optimum locations of outriggers, Outrigger-braced structure.
