Abstract
Nanostructured materials have attracted great attention in fabricating efficient and environmentally friendly energy storage and conversion devices. For examples, nanoparticles of noble metals/metal alloys with controlled shape and exposed facets have shown superior performance as electrocatalysts for fuel cells; Nanoporous structures of metal oxides or carbon-derived materials have been used as supercapacitor electrodes and demonstrated great promise for high power devices. In our group, we have investigated new synthetic routes to a series of functional nanostructured materials, including noble metals, metal oxides and their nanocomposites. These materials have been sought for electrochemical energy conversion and storage applications.
